Taking care of your health during pregnancy can feel overwhelming, especially when conditions like anemia and GDM come into the picture. Along with making changes to my diet, I found that staying active in simple ways helped me feel stronger and more balanced every day.
After being diagnosed with GDM around my 28th week at Klinik Kesihatan, I was encouraged to include light exercise in my routine. Starting small made it feel manageable, and over time, it became something I truly looked forward to each day.

Both diet and movement worked together for me.
Why Exercise Matters During Pregnancy
Light activity helped me:
- Keep my blood sugar levels stable
- Improve circulation (helpful for anemia too)
- Feel more energetic and relaxed
- Support better sleep
Even small movements made a noticeable difference.
What Worked for Me
1. Walking After Meals
A simple 10–15 minute walk after meals helped control my glucose levels.
I also made it a point to spend time in nature — walking in a park or even around my garden. It felt refreshing and helped me stay calm and active.
2. Short Exercise Session at Klinik Kesihatan

I also joined a short exercise session at Klinik Kesihatan, conducted by nurses.
They guided us through simple, safe movements which gave me confidence that I was exercising correctly.
3. Light Stretching at Home
At home, I kept it simple with gentle stretching to relax my body and improve circulation.

Author’s Tip ❤️
From my experience, you don’t need heavy workouts during pregnancy.
Simple, consistent movement is enough.
A short walk, guided exercises, and staying active throughout the day helped me manage my GDM naturally. Pair it with a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and enjoy peaceful moments in nature — it truly makes the journey easier.
